Your data, plainly explained
Privacy policy

1. Who we are
Trueway Driving School(“we”) is the data controller for personal data collected through this website and in the course of providing driving lessons in Leicester. Contact: 07894 075 435 or hello@truewaydrivingschool.co.uk.
2. What we collect, and why
When you book a lesson
- Name, mobile number, email address, pickup postcode, and your answers to the booking questions (whether you hold a provisional licence, previous lessons, and anything you'd like us to know).
- Why: to provide the lesson you've booked — pickup, contact, and teaching planned around you. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
When you pay
- Payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details — we receive only confirmation that payment succeeded, and the transaction records we need for accounting.
- Lawful basis: performance of a contract, and legal obligation (keeping accounting records).
When you contact us
- Whatever you send us — via the contact form, WhatsApp, phone or Instagram — along with your contact details.
- Why: to answer you. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
When you browse this site
- This website sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard server logs (IP address, pages requested) for security. The embedded booking calendar is provided by Cal.com and sets the functional cookies it needs to work.
3. Who processes your data for us
We use a small number of specialist companies as data processors. Each only receives what it needs:
- Cal.com, Inc. — runs our booking system: your booking details, answers to booking questions, and lesson schedule.
- Stripe Payments Europe Ltd / Stripe, Inc. — processes card payments. Stripe acts as an independent controller for fraud prevention; see Stripe's own privacy policy.
- Resend, Inc. — delivers contact-form messages to our inbox.
- Vercel, Inc. — hosts this website and keeps standard server logs.
- Google LLC — bookings appear in our Google Calendar so your instructor knows where to be.
Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where data leaves the UK, it's protected by recognised safeguards — the UK International Data Transfer Agreement/Addendum or the UK–US Data Bridge, depending on the provider.
4. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't become bookings: deleted within 12 months.
- Booking and lesson records: kept while you're learning with us, then for up to 6 years alongside the payment records HMRC requires us to keep.
- We don't sell data or use it for marketing lists.
5. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you (access);
- correct it (rectification);
- delete it (erasure), where we don't have to keep it;
- limit how we use it (restriction);
- hand it over in a portable format (portability);
- stop processing based on legitimate interests (objection).
Just ask — 07894 075 435 or hello@truewaydrivingschool.co.uk. We'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
6. Learners under 18
Many of our learners are 17. We collect the same minimal booking information for them as for anyone else, and we're always happy for a parent or guardian to make the booking and be the point of contact.
7. Changes
If we change this policy, the new version appears here with a new date at the top. Questions? See the contact page.
